Tsavo East is best known for its red elephants, vast open landscapes, and the scenic Galana River. It is one of Kenya’s largest and oldest national parks.
The elephants appear red because they dust themselves with the park’s iron-rich red soil, which gives them their distinctive color.
The best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October and January to February, when wildlife gathers around water sources, making it easier to spot animals.
You can see elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and many species of birds. The park is also home to crocodiles and hippos along the river.
